The old chronicles say

The Complete Annals, as the Basic Annals open, have a line introducing him that praises him for sweeping away the chieftains and continuing the line of Trieu Vu. The Cuong muc, at exactly the matching point — the article of its editorial principles that sets him at the head of the Main Annals — writes that he put down the warlords, unified the realm, and truly could continue the line of Hung Vuong. Hung Vuong is still there; Trieu Vu has vanished. The Nguyen court's whole verdict on the Trieu fits inside a name taken out of the sentence that introduces him.12
